DJ Liams First Wakestock Gig!

DJ Liam
This weekend was amazing, I dj’d for loads of my heroes, and even managed to get some of them dancing.
I was the dj for the Casio G-shock/ Burlington project party bus (and what a party it was). The fun began on Friday when I turned up back stage at the wakestock 2008 festival at blenheim Oxfordshire and was handed my AAA passes. It turned out that the bus was in the artist’s only enclosure, which had a marquee with a free bar and the artist’s dressing rooms.
Next a group of extremely cool people got on the bus and it turned out that they were the bed head (Toni and Guy) top stylists and they would be cutting loads of the artists hair (including mine) before they went on stage, right in front of where I was djing.
During the day I played loads of my favourite indie tunes on the bus but as soon as the acts went on stage there was no point because the base from the stage in front of us was making the bus rumble, this meant I got to go and watch all my favourite acts, my highlight of Friday was Groove Armada’s set, they made me dance like a nutter especially to fogma (WOW).
I had a bit of a sore head on Saturday but I knew I had a job to do, 4 cranberry juices later I was back on the bus. More of the same on Saturday, I was playing indie until the acts went on stage. Later in the day we were asked by the production manager to wire up our big speakers and pump the sound outside into the artist’s only enclosure (result), so after mark Ronson finished his set, everyone came back and it was my turn to perform.
Somehow I managed to play the best set of my life, and ended up getting a load of people dancing (including Mark Ronson). I got loads of pats on the back and i must have done a decent job because…I have been asked to play at wakestock’s sister festival this weekend in north Wales.
I can’t wait to get back on air and play some of the new tunes that I have picked up over the weekend.
See you soon DJ Liam.
Gshock Bus Everyone should have a bus like this.
