The Most Powerful men listen to what on there ipods?

August 25, 2008 · Filed Under Industry News

I found this article today and felt the overwhelming need to share it amoungst the Citybeat Radio Krew. (Had me in fits to be honest)

The US presidential election long ago turned into the only show in town. When Russia invaded Georgia, it wasn’t George Bush’s comments that were being played and replayed on CNN but McCain’s and Obama’s. Both men are very much the same animal. If McCain modified his stance on off-shore mining and tampered the warmongering tendencies just a bit, he could easily pass himself off as the white Obama. So how then to pick between two candidates who have embarked on campaigns that have been most notable for their crowd pandering than anything else? You judge them on their iPod playlists of course.

Barack Obama’s Most Played Tracks:

Fugees - Ready Or Not

Marvin Gaye - What’s Going On

Bruce Springsteen - I’m On Fire

The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter

Nina Simone - Sinnerman

Kanye West - Touch The Sky

Frank Sinatra - You’d Be So Easy To Love

Aretha Franklin - Think

U2 - City of Blinding Lights

William - Yes We Can

John McCain’s Most Played Tracks:

ABBA - Dancing Queen

Roy Orbison - Blue Bayou

ABBA - Take A Chance On Me

Merle Haggard - If We Make It Through December

Dooley Wilson - As Time Goes By

The Beach Boys - Good Vibrations

Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World

Frank Sinatra - I’ve Got You Under My Skin

Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline

The Platters - Smoke Gets In Your Eyes

Note:
These playlists were more than likely selected by teams of highly-educated PR monkeys who’ve studied social sciences and public trends to the point where they can predict what music you want your presidential preference to listen to. They’re so highly trained they can read the parts of your mind that you can’t. If Barack Obama likes jogging to Cop Killer and John McCain has Girls Girls Girls as his bedside alarm, you and I will never, ever know about it.
