D - Unity
Citybeat Radio: Were you a producer first or a DJ first?
We actually started to produce music first before making out way into the clubs.
Citybeat Radio: How do the two roles work together for you?
D – Unity: We both think that you can not have one without the other to advance in the music industry. It is an essential part in order to advance.
Citybeat Radio: Do you use the dance floor to test records you’re working on in the studio?
D – Unity: Of course, it comes in really useful at times to see if the record will work. Works great for us as producers and also as label owners. (Beat Therapy Records / Dark Room Records)
Citybeat Radio: How do you prepare for each Big event?
D – Unity: We make sure we have our Cd’s and/or laptop and headphones lol. There is no actual preparation, we just make sure we have fun and do our best each and every set that we play.
Citybeat Radio: What does your DJ set up consist of?
D – Unity: 2 to 4 CDJ – 1000 MK2 Depending on the club we are at a pioneer mixer. Usually in addition to that we also work with a Mac notebook and Tractor. Sometimes it varies on the club and party.
Citybeat Radio: What projects are you currently working on?
D – Unity: We have just finished an EP for Armada Music with is already out, we are featured on Armin Only DVD – out Mid July. You can also find us on Tool room Knight CD witch was mixed by Mark Knight.
We have a track that will be released on Car Cox’s newest Compilation (Ibiza Only). At the very moment we are working with Hugo Rizzo, Carlos Manaca, Richie Santana, Peter Baily, Eric Entrena and Tweek’d Records, thats just to name a few.
Citybeat Radio: Where do you see yourself going in the future?
D – Unity: We have a few things in mind…New York, Miami, UK or maybe even Spain. We can only go so far here in Canada so moving in the near future is in the plans.
Citybeat Radio: What other artists are you looking forward to working with the most, or are currently in the process of working with?
D – Unity: Like we mentioned above we have been blessed to work with some of the worlds top artists. The artists that we always wanted to work with we are. We are talking to a few more at the moment on doing a few things with them. You will just have to stayed tuned to see.
Citybeat Radio: What inspires you the most, and who are your musical influences?
D – Unity: From day one we inspired each other. We did not directly want to look up to one artist. We wanted to develop a unique sound so that we stand out with our productions. We always look up to each other and work on thing together, one of us will get an idea then the other will branch of that one and it keeps going. It has been working well all this time :).
Citybeat Radio: What types of activities or hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
D – Unity: Productions, working with other artist, working on our labels. We honestly spend 98% of our time working on things to do with music, If it’s not productions then its something ales that we are involved in.
